What IIIPI actually does

Indian Institute of Insolvency Professionals of ICAI IIIPI

First registered insolvency professional agency — ICAI (IBBI/IPA/16-17/01)

The Indian Institute of Insolvency Professionals of ICAI (IIIPI) is a section-8 company wholly owned by ICAI, registered with IBBI as an Insolvency Professional Agency (registration IBBI/IPA/16-17/01 — first of the three agencies) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. IPAs enrol insolvency professionals as members and enforce the code of conduct on them.

Mandate & machinery

  • Enrol insolvency professionals (IPs) as professional members; lay down standards; monitor and discipline members under the IBBI (Insolvency Professionals) Regulations 2016.
  • Governed by a board with independent directors; operates disciplinary committees for member conduct.

Registers

  • IP rosters live in IBBI's own registers (individual IP registration numbers begin IBBI/IPA-001/... for IIIPI members); IIIPI does not publish a simple member directory.

Gaps & open questions

  • Member counts and disciplinary outcomes are scattered across IBBI board reports and individual orders — no single public enforcement ledger.
