What ANMI actually does

Association of National Exchanges Members of India ANMI

Stock brokers' pan-India association — campaigning for SRO status (SEBI context entry)

The Association of National Exchanges Members of India (ANMI, est. 1996) is a pan-India body of ~900 trading members of NSE, BSE and MSE. It engages SEBI and the exchanges on brokerage-industry issues but is not a recognised SRO; its own press releases solicit 'SRO status and a greater say in policy making'.

Profile & work

  • Representation and advocacy: pre-budget memoranda, regulatory feedback, compliance seminars for brokers across exchanges.
  • Runs an annual capital-market conference graced by the Finance Minister and SEBI Chairman; publishes a magazine.
  • Board of directors drawn from member-broker leadership; committees for exchange-specific member segments.

Membership

  • ~900 active stock brokers (ASIFMA profile; ANMI's own 'about' describes a pan-India body of trading members of NSE/BSE/MSE).
  • No public member directory; membership rosters sit behind the member area login.

Gaps & open questions

  • Not a recognised SRO — included as context because it is the most probable candidate if SEBI recognises a brokers' SRO under the 2024-25 framework work.
  • Self-description ('Voice of Capital Market') is marketing, not regulatory standing.
