BSE Administration and Supervision Ltd BASL
Deep-dive: what BASL actually does →
Investment advisers (IAASB) + research analysts (RAASB)
Why it matters if you borrow or pay
- Every SEBI-registered investment adviser — anyone paid to advise you on stocks or MFs — is deemed a BASL member; SEBI's 2024 framework made BSE/BASL also the supervisory body (RAASB) for research analysts.
- Runs registration vetting, compliance supervision and grievance handling for the advice industry; recognised as IAASB for a 3-year term from 1 Jun 2021, continuing under the 2024 supervisory-body framework.
- If your adviser or a Telegram 'research analyst' rips you off, BASL's complaint desk is the industry-level stop before SEBI.
What we're watching
- No public member roster. Membership derives from SEBI's IA/RA registers, but BASL publishes no list, no inspection outcomes, no action counts.
- The IAASB recognition began as a 3-year term (Jun 2021) — watch renewal terms and how many advisers actually face action.
